Bindery Options for Digital Printing: Large or Small Format

Once a job is printed, whether its a full set of construction plans or a small booklet, it is time to put the finishing touches on the order. Century Copi-technics offers a wide range of binding options to complement our digital printing service that are sure to fit our clients’ needs. Below is a list of  services that we offer.

To learn more about other finishing options be sure to check out our Finishes page.

Stapling

Best use: for small sets of 2 to 60 sheets that need to be attached together economically.

Stapling is done automatically on our high-speed printers or with one of our various hand staplers. Which method is used is determined by the job itself. Originals that can be copied via our document feeder and are around 60 pages can be stapled by our machine. Originals that are more than 70 sheets and are various sizes will have to be stapled by hand or bound in another fashion such as a GBC Comb binding.

Saddle Stitching

Best use: for small booklets or folded brochures with multiple pages.

This is a type of stapling that is used for multi-page folded brochures, magazines and catalogs. Saddle stitching is when two staples are placed on the fold of the book to ensure the book doesn’t come apart. Depending on the printing needs of our customer we can either automate this on our high-speed black printers or use a stand-alone saddle stitching machine.

Digital Stapling

Best Use: plan sets from 4 pages to 200 pages that just need to be held together economically.

Plans can also be stapled by hand using one of our various Heavy-duty staplers. Sets from 2 sheets up to 200 sheets can be stapled together but larger plan sets will need to be screw post.

Strip Binding for Plans

Best use: plan sets from 2 pages to 200 pages that need to look their best.

This is a black paper binding on the edge of plans also known as “Edge Binding.” We can accommodate plan sizes from 11×17 to 36×48 and set thickness of 2 sheets and up.

Book Binding

Best use: books with 40 to 400 pages that need to look their best while maintaining functionality.

GBC Comb, Wire, Velo, and Coil binding are a few of the options at your disposal to professionally bind your 8.5×11 to 11×17 documents together.

Screw Post for Thick Plans or Books

Best use: plan sets over 200 sheets and books over 500 pages that cannot be broken up into smaller books.

Sometimes plans or cut sheet books can become too big to put a staple through. In this case we can drill 3 holes into the set and put aluminum screw posts that will keep the set together. The great thing about this type of binding is that with a regular flat head screw driver anyone can unscrew the posts and add, change, or take out sheets as needed without having to send the set back to the printer.

3 Hole Punched

In many cases you may have a 3 ring binder that you need to add pages to. We can print any new inserts and have them 3 hole punched as they are printed on our high speed black and white or color small document machines. We can even provide the 3 ring binders with advanced notice.
